Drone usage
The use of drones at Canterbury Cathedral and within the Cathedral Precincts is not permitted without the Cathedral’s prior written permission. The Precincts are private land and any unauthorised drone operation may breach the Cathedral’s conditions of entry and, depending on the circumstances, may also contravene UK Civil Aviation Authority regulations, wildlife protection legislation and data protection law. Given the presence of large numbers of worshippers and visitors, the Cathedral’s nationally significant historic fabric, and protected wildlife, unauthorised drone flights are prohibited and are treated as a serious matter.
