A Stitch in Time: A Day Exploring the Textiles of Canterbury Cathedral – Monday 15th September

Canterbury Cathedral holds a fascinating collection of textiles. These include some fabric fragments and items of church dress dating from medieval times. Some significant textiles are still in use, worn by clergy and used to cover altars. We have a team of volunteers known as the ‘Stitchers’ who carry out repairs and create new items to meet the cathedral’s needs.
This day will provide a unique opportunity to find out from our experts more about the history of these items and how they are used and cared for. See some of the finest examples from our textile collections, many of which are very rarely displayed. Guest’s will get to enjoy arrival refreshments with Danish pastries, a 2-course hot plated lunch, and afternoon refreshments with cake, all at the Cathedral Lodge.
